What was it like for Americans who explored and moved into new territories? What was the Louisiana purchase deal? What new resources and new dangers were found during exploration? Part B (10 points) Essay Directions: Write a well-organized 5-paragraph essay that includes an introduction, several paragraphs, and a conclusion. Use evidence from at least three documents in the body of the essay to answer the following question. Support your response with relevant facts, examples, and details. Include additional outside information if possible (class notes, book reference, etc.). Historical Context and Essay Prompt: Explain America’s foreign policy from 1789- 1825 (terms of the first 5 presidents). Using the information from the documents and your knowledge of social studies, identify (3) three actions these presidents took to back up your claim. Guidelines: In your essay, be sure to: · Address all aspects of the Task by accurately analyzing and interpreting at least three documents. · Incorporate information from the documents in the body of the essay. · Incorporate relevant outside information. · Support your claim with relevant facts, examples, and details. · Use a logical and clear plan of organization. On the top half of the page draw a political cartoon based on something you read in chapter 12. Remember that your cartoon should show understanding of the concept/issue AND your point of view.
Then, on the bottom half draw another political cartoon about a current issue that is important to you. Ideas include: (but not limited to) Texting and driving cost of education racism ISIS War on Terror Ebola Virus Immigration Voting Political cartoons will be scored on this rubric: 1-Does not meet 2- Almost there 3- Good 4- Excellent Issue/subject 1-Shows no understanding of political issue 2-Shows very basic understanding or some confusion over political issue 3-Shows understanding of the political issue 4-Shows clear understand of the political issue Way topic is covered 1-There is no student point of view 2-Students point of view is somewhat apparent 3-Student’s point of view is apparent 4-Students point of view is clearly conveyed |
