  1. Austria-Hungary (A-H) responds to assassination with ultimatum for Serbia:
    1. Accept full responsibility
    2. Right to prosecute conspirators in A-H
    3. Right to police anti-Austrian groups in Serbia
  • Serbia responds with agreement to the first 2 but not the right to police but offers to have terms settled by an international conference
  1. Germany sends A-H a “blank check” offers support
  2. A-H declares war on Serbia
  3. Russia mobilizes troops on the A-H Border and German Border, Germany perceives this as an act of war
  4. Germany sends ultimatum requiring free passage through Belgium, Belgium deies request
  5. Germany declares war on France
  6. Great Britain declares war on Germany because of treaty with Belgium
